Dear subscribers, fellow walkers, explorers, participants, friends, Romans, countrymen, flâneurs and history nerds, lend me your ears!
Welcome to The London Walker August newsletter. How are you all, I hope you are doing well and life is good, bountiful and fun. To all new subscribers, welcome, very good to have you with us, looking forward to some happy walking together.
First and foremost I must offer up an apology for at the beginning of this year I was utterly unprepared for the popularity of my little humble walking history page and instagram account. Along with my other work I had every intention of building all of this carefully, slowly and organically: suddenly I was delightfully but completely unexpectedly swamped with messages of support, enquiries and encouragement from all around the world.
New Walks: I think I’m now beginning to catch up with myself! So thank you for your following and subscribing and your patience as I’m aware many of you are keen to get going on a walk soon and I’m pleased to say that this newsletter will enable you to see booking dates before I make them available to the greater public.
Please check in below. I will be launching a walk around Fleet Street and Westminster for the early Autumn, so keep you posted on these as and when they become ready.
A MEANDER AROUND ST PAUL’S – Saturday 6th September
A MEANDER AROUND ST PAUL’S – Wednesday 24th September
REBELS AND RADICALS – Wednesday 10th September
REBELS AND RADICALS – Sunday 28th September
This summer and into Autumn I’m keen to host weekly walks which I will call ‘The Lunch Break Ramble‘, where I take folks to interesting places in the city with fascinating history, all within an hour. Keep an eye out for them when they go live, then grab a coffee or cuppa tea, a sandwich or an apple; and I’ll take you somewhere nice.
Video homepage on YouTube: It’s been a busy start to summer here and theres some grand new films on instagram and the YouTube channel, follow the links below to see more. I must ask, if you like these films do ‘like, leave comments and subscribe’ as it all helps the mindless machine algorithms understand whats good and needs to be seen. I appreciate it if you do.
Earlier this summer on a stinking hot day I popped onto The Land Rovers Podcast for Episode 9, joining the lovely Paul and George, to wander through Secret Roman London.
Beneath the glass towers and coffee queues, there’s a city of temples, ancient tablets, treasures, fort walls, and half-forgotten roads, all waiting to be rediscovered. We talked coins, clues, hoards, pints, and the sort of history you could almost miss while rushing for the Tube. Do give it a listen, as well as their other episodes, a very nice piece of audio escapism. I think we all need a bit of that currently.

Happy walking,
The London Walker
