Dear subscribers, walkers, explorers, participants, friends, Romans, countrymen, flâneurs, cultural connoisseurs and history nerds, lend me your ears!
Welcome to The London Walker December newsletter. How are you all, I hope you are doing well and life is being well behaved, bountiful and fun. To all new subscribers, welcome, very good to have you with us, looking forward to some happy walking together.
Well its suddenly Christmas and what a year it’s been! As we head toward the close of 2025, and a very well earned holiday, I want to take a moment to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has helped support thelondonwalker over the course of this first year. A huge grateful bear hug to everyone who came walking with me, read the stories and articles, watched the films, and shared your curiosity. It feels grand to explore these hidden corners and bring history to life, knowing that we’re exploring these places together. Whether you joined a tour in person, followed along on Instagram or YouTube, or simply read one of the history pieces; you’re all a part of what has made this year so special.

It feels like only yesterday I was nervously posting those early films on instagram, drawing up the website and navigating the curious menus of eventbrite, let alone running those first curated walks and now here we are, routes trodden, miles strolled, lord knows how many steps, hundreds of stories told, and countless happy faces. All of your enthusiasm, feedback and encouragement has transformed a humble idea into what genuinely feels like a kindly community of people interested in history wanders, be it physical or remote, and for that, I’m truly grateful to you all.

There have been so many highlights and adventures this year. Being able to meet people from all around the world, from all walks of life, to meet first as strangers and by the end of the walk feel like firm friends; its been great to sit in cafes and pubs afterwards and have a cup of tea or a pint, and carry on chatting about history and the world; thats a real privilege, a real genuine perk to this job and I love every bit of it.
Its been great meeting other guides, podcasters, creators in the same field and share our mutual fascination in this thing called London. Over the year stomping across the city I’ve met and chatted with endless tradesmen, shop owners, market stallholders, security guards, gallery and museum staff all of whom have opened my eyes to so many wondrous things that are here, often unnoticed. I am deeply thankful to them. You never stop learning here in London, there’s always something new, a discovery waiting to be found.
One highlight for me was showing The Land Rovers Podcast team, George and Paul, across Roman London, if you have some free time this holiday season, preparing the sprouts or stuffing the chicken, listen in as we explore the 2,000 year old city on a glorious summers day last June. There’s the Mithraeum, London Bridge, Leadenhall, the City, Shakespeare, Dickens.

A lot of people are asking about availability of walks in the coming months and I must say the main walking calendar slows as that cold icy grip of winter settles and the days are short. There will be a whole calendar of walks coming online in the early spring, so subscribe if you haven’t already, so you can be notified when tickets become available. In fact in the New Year there is some really exciting news which I cant wait to share with you all. But more on that soon.

So 2025 is coming to an end and we look forward to 2026. There is going to be many new films, many more grand stories, and also a step into the audio world with a londonwalker podcast, a saunter of a conversation through all things history, which I aim to launch in the early summer. And of course there will be a host of new themed walks in early 2026, dates and routes coming soon; and subscribers will be the first to know. So keep following, like and subscribe, and I look forward to meeting up with everyone as the days warm and lengthen.
Until then Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Happy walking,
Tim, The London Walker
