The London Walker

Walking through the old time worn streets starting around Bishopsgate, through Spitalfields and down Brick Lane toward Whitechapel, occasionally you cross a street your heels scuffing on cobble stones over a century in age, the long lost haunts of Huguenot and Irish weavers, the old largely forgotten Jewish community and the children of the Kindertransport; their ghosts haunt doorsteps and darkened alleyways. So many generations of immigrants, now Bangladeshi, moving through the city, moving endlessly through time, making it their home, raising families working, arriving, assimilating.
